Luigi Colani said: “The earth is round, all the heavenly bodies are round; they all move on round or elliptical orbits. We are even aroused by round forms in species propagation related eroticism. I am going to pursue Galileo’s philosophy: my world is also round.”

In 1968, in cooperation with Kusch+Co, Luigi Colani designed `Colani collection` which was named after him.Luigi Colani is such an extraordinary person that he is always inspired with unique and unconventional ideas. He is a master of freeform shapes and capable of applying his design to shaping modern furniture.

Colani collection was mainly made of soft foam, metal frames and double layer elastic fabric so that the shape can be maintained as expected.

Kusch+Cowas then the first company with soft foam technology in this industry. By using soft foam and metal frames, Kusch had succeeded in completing nearly impossible sculptural shapes of Colani collection.

Luigi Colani 

Born in Berlin, Germany in 1928, Luigi Colani then graduated from the Sorbonne in Paris with a degree in Aerodynamics and Design. In 1968, in cooperation with Kusch+Co, Luigi Colani designed `Colani collection` which was named after him.

He had also designed for many well-known manufacturers such as NASA, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari and Bio-City in Shanghai Chongming Island. He is the most prominent and innovative comtemporary designer and widely recognized as `Leonardo Da Vinci of the 21st Century‘ by the international design field. With a large number of unconventional and exaggerating designs, he is also regarded as `Messiah of the design‘.
